Bistreo Android app · Printer guide

From accepted order
to kitchen receipt.

Connect your Epson kitchen printer to Bistreo Order Manager. This guide walks through network setup, a test receipt and automatic printing when staff accept an order.

Before you begin

  • Install the current Bistreo Android app and sign in to the correct store.
  • Use an Epson ePOS2-compatible printer. The app defaults to TM-T82II; its interface must support your chosen connection. A USB-only printer cannot connect over the network.
  • Power on the printer, load the receipt paper and close its cover. The current kitchen layout is designed for an 80 mm roll.
  • For network printing, connect the phone/tablet and printer to the same restaurant LAN. The tablet can use Wi-Fi while the printer uses an Ethernet cable to the same router.
  • Keep an internet connection for incoming orders. The app sends receipt jobs locally to your printer; you do not need to open printer ports to the internet.

Set up network printing

These labels match the Android app. Example addresses in the images are not your printer’s actual address.

  1. Open Kitchen printer

On the Orders screen, tap the ☰ menu. Scroll to Device → Kitchen printer. Check the store shown in the menu first: printer settings are saved for this device and selected store.

  2. Choose the model and connection

Enter your printer’s model, for example TM-T82II. Set Connection to Network (TCP/IP). Don’t select a different model just to work around an error; check compatibility with support.

  3. Find the printer or enter its IP

Tap Find Epson printers on Wi-Fi and choose the matching printer. If it is not found, enter the printer’s own LAN IP in Printer IP address. Use its network status printout, Epson utility or your router’s device list to find it. Enter just the address—no https://, TCP: prefix or website address.

  4. Print a test receipt

Tap Print test receipt. Confirm that a physical test docket comes out, the text is readable and the cutter works. A test job can print before auto-print is enabled; it does not create a customer order.

  5. Enable auto-print and save

Turn on Auto-print accepted orders, then tap Save printer. Both steps matter: changing the switch without saving does not persist the configuration.

  6. Accept orders as normal

When staff accept an order, the app sends its kitchen receipt. For ASAP orders, enter the preparation minutes when asked. Scheduled orders keep their requested time but still need to be accepted. To turn automatic printing off later, disable the switch and save again.

Reprint a kitchen docket

Open an accepted or declined order. Use the printer / Reprint button at the bottom of its details. Reprinting sends another receipt; it does not create or accept a new order.

If acceptance succeeds but printing fails, the order is still accepted. Fix the printer and reprint rather than accepting or submitting the order again. Don’t reprint repeatedly while a job may still be queued.

Bluetooth or USB?

The app also lists Bluetooth and USB connections. They require a compatible printer interface and device. The current form expects the printer’s Epson transport address; the Wi-Fi discovery button only scans network printers.

For Bluetooth, pair the printer as its manufacturer instructs and allow Android’s requested Bluetooth permissions. For USB, use a compatible USB host/OTG connection. If you don’t know the correct transport address, contact support—don’t enter a LAN IP for Bluetooth or USB.

Printer troubleshooting

The printer isn’t found.

Discovery can be blocked even when manual printing works. Check that both devices are on the same LAN, not an isolated guest network. Enter the printer’s LAN IP manually. A router DHCP reservation can keep the printer address stable.

The test receipt times out.

Check the IP address, printer power, paper and cover. Check for a VPN or router isolation preventing local network access, and make sure another device is not holding the printer connection. Wait for the attempt to finish before retrying. Do not expose the printer to the public internet.

Test printing works but accepted orders don’t print.

Reopen Kitchen printer, check Auto-print accepted orders is enabled, then Save printer. Verify the selected store and repeat setup on each order-taking device/store as needed. Keep auto-print enabled on only the intended device if you want to avoid duplicate dockets.

The receipt is blank or badly formatted.

Check the thermal paper is installed in the correct direction, the model matches and the paper roll is the expected 80 mm size. Contact support with the model, connection type and error text if the test receipt is still wrong.
